Why London’s biggest premium coffee company is supporting award winning UK charity, Pump Aid.The Story Department of Coffee and Social Affairs, London, 13th September 2016. London’s premium coffee company, Department of Coffee and Social Affairs has launched a month-long donation campaign called #BeTheKey to raise money and awareness for the award-winning UK charity Pump Aid.
Pump Aid is renowned for its work in the poorest communities in Sub-Saharan Africa by building over 9,500 water pumps and providing safe clean drinking water to over 1.35 million people. Pump Aid has changed and saved lives. Department of Coffee and Social Affairs has a uniquely close relationship with Pump Aid, the company’s Chairman Stefan Allesch-Taylor CBE is also the Chairman of Pump Aid and both the company’s Deputy Chairman, Matthew Gill and CEO, Ashley Lopez, serve as Directors and Trustees of Pump Aid.
The ‘Social Affairs’ aspect of the company’s name refers to the humanitarian and charitable work the company does in the UK and Africa. Chief Executive Officer, Ashley Lopez said:
‘A part of our DNA is the social impact. One minute you might be meeting with our shop managers in London and the next you are talking with the team in Malawi about building a new water pump and that is just our normal day.’
Department of Coffee and Social Affairs works extremely closely with charities such as Pump Aid to raise awareness, funding and to strive to create demonstrable impact.
The Pump Aid #BeTheKey campaign recognizes the obvious importance of water to everyone’s daily lives, with 650 million people in the world still with no access to safe clean drinking water. Department of Coffee and Social Affairs finds this campaign key in raising money to change and save lives.
